Guitar Festival BCN aims to position itself as an alternative to the summer festivals and mix artists of different nationalities and styles in various spaces of the city, creating an absent offer in the winter months.

In this edition, Guitar Festival BCN celebrates 25 years of the festival, a quarter century offering quality music to the city. This edition extends the range of styles, with big jazz, indie, folk and pop bands. That’s why we will see artists like Luz Casal, Loquillo, Andrés Calamaro or Nacho Vegas.

Considered one of the world’s finest classical pianist, Lang Lang will play in this tour the sonatas number 4,5 and 8 of Amadeus Mozarts which he played already when he was 7 years old; and ballads 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Fréderic Chopin.

The new thing on this tour is that Lang Lang will be accompanied by a camera who will record all his concerts around Spain. Also, it will be possible to interact with the musician. With this project, Lang Lang wants to show to the public all the hidden things that happen before and after the concerts.

The I Bicentennial Verdi Concert will take place on the 30^th of September and on the 3^rd of October and there will be showed the secrets of Verdi, fragments from Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio, Un giorno di regno, Nabucco, I dur Foscari, Luisa Miller, Rigoletto and Simon Boccanegra operas.

The II Bicentennial Verdi Concert will be showed in Liceu on the 6^th and on the 9^th of October with fragments from Giovanna d’Arco, I Masnadieri, Jérusalem, Stiffelio, II trovatore, La Traviata, Les vêpres siciliennes and Un ballo in maschera opera. In this occasion, people will also see the forgotten secrets of Verdi in these fragments.

The III Bicentennial Verdi Concert will be on the 13^th and 17^th of October and the magnificient Verdi voices will interpret fragments from I lombardi alla prima crociata, Ernani, Alzira, Macbeth, II corsaro, La forza del destino and Aida operas.

Finally, on the 19th and 21st will take place the IV Bicentennial Verdi Concert where unknown fragments from Attila, La battaglia di Legnano, Aroldo, Don Carlos, Otello and Falstaff operas will be sung.

The collection is composed by 90 guitars but only 50 are exposed. The “guitar de los Leones” from XVIII century or the guitars made by Antonio de Torres (considered the Stradivarius master for being the “father of classic modern guitar”) are the most popular in the exposition.

The ticket included a guided tour through the collection with a20 minutes concert in the end played by Jacob Lenson and Belisana Ruiz, old guitar specialized players. The visit is about one hour and you can see the guitar history, its influence and its beginning.

La Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, will host the concerts. The building is an emblematic modernist construction built by Antoni Gaudí and placed next to our Barcelona 5-star centre hotel.

The Nits d’Estiu, ongoing since 20^th July, offers you the possibility to listen to live music in the terrace of La Pedrera. Also, the ticket includes a visit to the building, the concert and a glass of cava to enjoy the whole night.

Tickets prices are between 10 and 22 euros and they include more activities besides the concert. Moreover music, there will be outdoor cinema in la Plaça del Rei with the film El silencio antes de Bach directed by Pere Portabella and a talk in el Museu d’Història.

Another of the bets of this festival is the combination of Bach music with jazz or swing music, all performed by Manel Camps playing the piano, Llibert Fortuny playing the sax and Mireia Farrés playing the trumpet.

Bachcelona is organized by Bach Zum Mitsingen association and since 2011 they organize liturgical and interactive songs which will close the festival on the 28^th of July with the song BWV 105, one of the project productions, in la Basílica de Santa María del Mar.

Marsalis became in 1983 in the first and only artist to win a Grammy of classical and jazz music in the same year and he repeated in 1984. In 1997 there was another landmark in his career, as it was the first jazz artist to be awarded with the prestigious Pulitzer Award in music thanks to his oratory ‘Blood on the Fields’.

This jazz concert is part of the Grec Festival in Barcelona, an international festival dedicated to theatre, music and circus that takes place every summer in the city and that receives its name precisly because of the place where is located: the Treatre Grec, an open-air auditorium built for the Universal Exposition in 1929 at the Mountjuïc mountain.

At the concert next 17th will also play the John Coltrane, Chick Corea and Duke Ellington pieces, among other many renowned names in jazz.
